As a multifunctional centre, Sports Hall de Fuik offers various possibilities for sports, recreation and culture. The village has a rich history in art, as several painters of the The Hague School discovered the beauty of Kortenhoef at the end of the nineteenth century.

Since 2002, Kortenhoef, together with Loosdrecht, 's-Graveland and Ankeveen, is part of municipality of Wijdemeren.
